Wall Tile Bottom Row
How to cut the top or bottom row tiles to size.
Wall tile bottom row. We use 2 clips per 12 of tile. Setup all the seamclips on the top of the first row of tile. We drew a line on the wall using a level to ensure it was exactly straight up and down. Tiles installed above this line will not require cutting.
On this wall we started each row at the line and worked back toward the corner. I explain why this method works soooo easy. Here is an easy way to set your 1st row and the rest going up your wall then lastly the first row is set. New wall tile designs allow you to mimic wood concrete or other looks.
The tops of all tiles in the bottom row must meet this line or be cut from the bottom to line up with the mark. Start applying the adhesive in a bottom corner about 1 tile length away from the bottom and side of the wall leaving space for the edge tiles. Place the first row of tiles along the wall and mark the tile where they need to be cut in order to have the tile s top edge aligned with the line you drew. The first was creating a clean edge where the tile would stop.
If you plan to cut the bottom row of tile start your installation with the second row. A batten board helps you start your bottom most course or row of tiles. Decorative wall tile makes a unique look that you can tailor and personalize to show off your style. Don t start it at the floor.

Then we used tiles that had a bullnose edge on the short side to create a clean edge. Continue to run the laser up the wall and line up successive rows.
A batten board is nothing more than a 1 x4 or 1 x2 board screwed directly into the wall horizontally. Choose from beautiful colors and great textures to create wow worthy walls. Apply thin set to next row on the wall and again backbutter the tiles to ensure 90 100 coverage. And embed the next tile.
